The Six Senses Maxwell, a hotel designed by French architect and interior designer Jacques Garcia, has opened its doors in Singapore.

The renovated 14-storey, colonial-era building – erstwhile a nutmeg plantation – features 138 rooms and suites; a "social library" furnished with tropical plants; a French-style brasserie; two bars; and a fitness studio.

Additional amenities include a rooftop garden and an 82 ft (25-metre) lap pool custom-made by Belgian lifestyle company, Sempre.

Commenting on the opening, the resort’s general manager, Murray Aitken said: "Guests will be able to immerse themselves fully into what makes Singapore so special, while at the same time benefiting from the wellness aspects that are the hallmark of the Six Senses experience."

The hotel is scheduled to debut spa pods where "guests and locals can enjoy signature massages, facials, and beauty treatments" in 2019.

The Maxwell is the second venue from Six Senses to debut in Singapore after the Six Senses Duxton which launched in April.
