Luxury Mexican boutique hotel and spa brand Chablé Hotels has curated a wellness journey for couples looking to rekindle the romance in their relationship following a testing 18 months enduring the pandemic.

Deeply rooted in the Mayan healing tradition, couples are invited to take part in sacred rituals designed to help them reconnect at the group’s jungle resort location, Chablé Yucatan.

The three-day Blissful Romance journey begins with a private consultation session with the resort’s on-property Abuela Ak’be – a spiritual guide similar to a Shaman – to understand the couples’ needs and goals.

A traditional ceremony, complete with an energy-healing ritual is then performed, followed by a private visit to a secret Mayan healing well, called a cenote, that contains a natural blend of detoxifying and restorative properties.

Guided by the Abuela, the couple is ‘reborn’ in the waters of the cenote before being taken into a Temazcal, a traditional Mexican sweat lodge.

This ritual is based on one of the oldest forms of medicine where the body is purified, the mind is present, and emotions might run high, allowing couples to come together and deeply connect.

Couples are then invited to take part in the Healing Balance Ritual which aims to remove blocked energy and release emotions, resulting in open and harmonious hearts.

The treatment begins with a deep Mayan Compress Massage, which uses a traditional poultice filled with herbs cultivated directly from the resort’s garden to undo the body’s pains and tensions.

The journey is completed with Acoustic Energy and Cleaning which harnesses the vibrations and tones of healing crystals and ocarinas – a Mayan sacred shell – to cleanse the energetic, physical, and emotional bodies of negativity, restoring and elevating the body and mind.

Combined, these treatments focus on renewing emotions, allowing couples to engage in open dialogue and create a bond never experienced before.

Nestled in 750 acres of steamy Mayan jungle, Chablé Yucatan is housed in a restored 19th-century hacienda. Each casita and villa are hidden amidst the lush, tropical landscape and boasts its own private pool, outdoor terrace complete with hammocks and outdoor rain shower, providing a private and secluded retreat.

Couples are also encouraged to continue to create memories together outside of the retreat schedule with a range of activities such as private cooking lessons, scuba diving, astrology sessions and excursions to nearby archaeological sites.

Meanwhile, running, tennis and cycling clinics, daily yoga, meditation classes and Pilates help to boost endorphins, with exercising together proven to increase happiness in relationships.

The three-day Blissful Romance programme costs US$2,445 (€2,109, £1,811) per couple at Chablé Yucatan.

Chablé Hotels is founded on Mayan rituals and traditions and is comprised of two hotels: Chablé Yucatan and Chablé Maroma. The latter resort Chablé Maroma lies on a private beach and is surrounded by mangroves, in the Riviera Maya.

An alternative version of the retreat is also available at Chablé Maroma for US$2,010 (€1,735, £1,489) per couple.
